Breaking The Chains of Self-Doubt

We all know that entrepreneurship is a thrilling rollercoaster ride, with its ups and downs. But for many, there’s an additional hurdle: the nagging voice of self-doubt that can sometimes creep in when we least expect it. Especially for us women.

So, why does self-doubt seem to have a special affinity for us women entrepreneurs?

Well, it’s not about capability; it’s about conditioning.

Society has, over time, ingrained certain expectations and stereotypes. However, it doesn’t have to stay like that! You CAN push past them and not let them have such a hold on you.

Let’s jump right into some strategies to kick it to the curb and boost your confidence.

Embrace Imperfection!

Let’s start by accepting that perfection is a myth. It’s time to let go of the unrealistic expectation that everything needs to be flawless. No one is perfect! If anything, perfection is imperfection. 

That social media post you’re working on? No matter how many hours you spend on it, it won’t be perfect.

That course you’ve been working on for months and months? Will not reach 100% perfection either.

It’s the hard truth. Perfection does not exist. We can always strive for it, but don’t let it stop you from taking action.

Celebrate Your Wins

Often, we downplay our successes, attributing them to luck or external factors. Stop and acknowledge your achievements, no matter how small

Did you secure a new client, launch a product, or even just conquer a tough Monday? Celebrate it! These victories are building blocks to your success story.

Build a Support Network

Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who understand the entrepreneurial journey. Share your victories, your challenges, and your aspirations with them.

Having a support network not only provides encouragement but also offers different perspectives that can help shatter those doubts.

Silence the Inner Critic

Pay attention to your self-talk. Challenge and reframe negative thoughts. Instead of dwelling on what could go wrong, focus on what could go right. Remember, you’re the captain of your ship, you choose where you want to stir it.

Invest in Self-Development

Continuous learning is a powerful antidote to self-doubt. Attend workshops, read books, and seek out mentors who can guide you. The more knowledge you acquire, the more confident you’ll become in your abilities.

Set Realistic Goals

Break down your big dreams into smaller, achievable goals. Celebrate each milestone and use them as stepping stones towards your ultimate vision. Small wins lead to big victories, and they help build a robust foundation of confidence.

Practice Self-Compassion

Remember, you’re human. Mistakes are inevitable, and they’re not a reflection of your worth. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a friend facing a similar situation.

It’s time to rewrite the narrative. We have to shatter those doubts that hold us back. Although I can’t promise you will “perfectly” stop feeling that self-doubt you can combat it and not let it stop you from taking action.
